Many BCBAs reach a point where they want their career to evolve, but feel uncertain about what ethical, realistic options actually exist beyond traditional clinic-based roles. This training is designed to expand that view—without promoting scope creep, abandoning applied behavior analysis, or pushing one-size-fits-all solutions.
Participants will explore a range of clinical, non-clinical, and hybrid career paths that draw on behavior analytic skills, including consultation-based clinical roles, behavioral pediatrics specialties such as feeding and sleep, parent coaching models, supervision and mentorship, professional training and education, and consulting or systems-level work. Each path is examined through the lens of sustainability, ethical responsibility, and real-world fit rather than hype or income promises.
In addition to expanding awareness of professional options, this course is action-oriented. Participants who wish to move forward will be guided through the development of a practical 90-day professional plan, grounded in behavioral principles, to support intentional exploration, skill development, or role adjustment aligned with their values and current context.
This course is not about leaving ABA—it is about applying behavior analytic decision-making to one’s own professional growth with clarity, confidence, and ethical integrity.
Learning Objectives
Identify multiple clinical, non-clinical, and hybrid career pathways available to behavior analysts beyond traditional service delivery models.
Differentiate between scope of practice, scope of competence, and role expansion when evaluating potential career paths within applied behavior analysis.
Describe ethical considerations related to career diversification, including supervision, service delivery boundaries, and professional accountability.
Analyze personal values, skills, and contextual factors to evaluate alignment with potential career directions.
Develop a structured, short-term professional action plan that applies behavioral principles to career decision-making and goal setting.
